Founded in 2011, Slice of Couture began as a small home-based business, driven by a passion for creating luxury cupcakes that stood out in both flavour and design. At a time when cakes either tasted great but looked average or looked fantastic but lacked flavour, we set out to change the game. From the start, we focused on delivering a balance of both exquisite taste and stunning aesthetics, quickly establishing a loyal client base in West London and beyond.
As our reputation grew, so did our creativity. We recognised a gap in the market for sculpted cakes that were not just a repetition of the same designs seen at every event. Customers were eager for something unique, and we delivered with imaginative, tailored creations tailored to their specific themes—from shishas to aeroplanes. Each cake was a collaborative process, where the dreams and ideas of our clients were brought to life through our artistry.
Over the years, Slice of Couture expanded beyond sculpted cakes to include a diverse portfolio that now encompasses wedding cakes, sugar flowers, moving cakes, and more. We’ve always responded to the evolving needs of the market, introducing items like bento box cakes, cookies, and brownies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we quickly adapted by launching a postal service for cakes and treat boxes, ensuring that our customers could still enjoy our creations even in challenging times.

Asma Yaqub, the founder and creative force behind Slice of Couture, has a background in Management & Marketing. Before diving into the world of cake artistry, she worked in direct marketing for a leading supermarket consultancy. However, after the birth of her first child, Asma’s priorities shifted, and she sought a career that allowed her to balance her love for her family with her professional aspirations.
Asma’s journey into cake making began with a curiosity for how intricate wedding and novelty cakes were created. Her husband introduced her to the world of cake artistry, and she soon found herself taking courses in botany-correct sugar flowers and rich fruit cakes at a local college. Asma’s love for baking flourished, and with encouragement from her sister, she turned her passion into a business, giving birth to Slice of Couture.
Under Asma’s guidance, Slice of Couture has evolved into a brand known for its botanically correct sugar flowers, exquisite wedding cakes, and innovative sculpted cakes. From being one of the pioneers in the sculpted cake market nearly two decades ago to seeing our creations featured in magazines, we’ve always pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in cake design.
